Works for stocks (Yahoo Finance) and crypto (CoinGecko). No keys, no setup.

Get an email the moment a watch trips. Refresh on demand any time.

How it works

Three steps. Done.

01

Add a watch

Type a ticker (NVDA, BTC) and pick your spike threshold (default 2× the 20-day average).

02

We sweep continuously

Background monitor pulls live volume from Yahoo + CoinGecko every minute. No manual refresh needed.

03

Get pinged the moment it trips

Email + Telegram with price + spike ratio. 24-hour dedup so the same spike doesn't spam.

The take

Volume signals before the price moves.

Most price-alert tools tell you AFTER the move. Volume spikes precede price spikes — Surge catches the institutional accumulation before it shows up on the chart.

FAQ

Quick answers.

What does 'volume spike' actually mean? +

Each day's trading volume is compared to the average of the previous 20 days. A 'spike' is today's volume divided by that average — e.g. 2.5x means today is 2.5 times normal. Big spikes often precede price moves; some funds trade off this alone.

How do you get the volume data? +

Yahoo Finance public chart API for stocks and CoinGecko public API for crypto. No accounts, no API keys, no scraping.

How often is it checked? +

Free: whenever you click 'Check now'. Pro: hourly automatic checks during market hours, with an email when any watch trips.

Can it watch options or futures? +

Not yet — equities and major crypto only. Options-flow alerts are on the roadmap.

What's the cancel policy? +

Cancel any time from your account page. You keep Pro features until the period ends; no pro-rated refund.

Does it work outside US market hours? +

Yes for crypto (24/7) and crypto-watched tickers. Stock-watched tickers update during regular Yahoo Finance hours; pre/post-market data isn't included.

Stop watching tickers manually.
